• Minimum balance to open a Current Account: 200 Jordanian Dinars.
• For Jordanians: 18 years and above.
• For non-Jordanians: Valid residency within the Kingdom.
• For minors: a Sumu account is opened under the guardianship of the father/legal guardian.

• For Jordanians:
  • Proof of residential address through: rental contract or utility bill (water or electricity).
  • Valid civil status ID or appointment certificate for military personnel.
  • In some cases and for certain amounts, proof of income or the source of funds you wish to deposit may be requested.

• For Non-Jordanians:
  • Valid passport.
  • Valid residency within the Kingdom.
  • Proof of residential address through rental contract or utility bill (water or electricity).

• For American citizens or green card holders, additional documents and the signing of additional forms will be required.

In accordance with the instructions of the Central Bank of Jordan regarding the settlement of the Returned Checks:

To avoid having the client's name listed among the defaulters with the Central Bank of Jordan, the check must be settled within the legal period from the date of its return. The accepted settlement is based on the following arrangements:

• If the returned check has been cashed from the client's account.
• If the bank receives a written settlement regarding the returned check, concluded between the drawer and the beneficiary before a judicial authority or certified by a notary public or verified by the bank.
• If the drawer presents the bank with the original returned check.
• If the bank is notified by a judicial authority to suspend proceedings regarding the returned check until a dispute over it is resolved.
• If the bank receives proof of notification from the relevant security or judicial authorities about the loss or theft of the check. 

Note that any action taken by the bank in compliance with the instructions of the Central Bank of Jordan does not incur any legal liability.
